How to Create a Torrent Website

Creating websites through hypertext markup language is certainly a difficult task. For those who have mastered this process, you may be interested in starting up your own Torrent website. Many of the sites available have incomplete, corrupted or missing Torrents for their visitors to use. By creating your own Torrent website, you will be able to control which Torrents stay on the website and which ones get deleted.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet
  • Credit Card
  • FileZilla

Instructions

Prepare

1. Determine your niche. Brainstorm three variations such as music or movies and research how competitive they are through a basic online search. Select a niche with moderate competition.

2. Select a Web hosting service. Compare the cost, bandwidth, storage and up-time of various companies. It is advised to select a well-known company, such as Certified Hosting.

3. Register your domain. This is offered while you are setting up the hosting and it will reduce the difficulties you may face if you select a domain from a different company. Ensure the domain includes the word "torrent" within it somewhere.

Add Extensions

4. Visit the C Panel of your website. Enter "yourdomain.com/cpanel" in a Web browser to do this.

5. Enter the Apache Handlers section. Scroll down in the C Panel until you see an icon with the words "Apache Handlers" below it. Click this icon.

6. Add the PHP extensions. Type in .php in the "Extension" field and then click "Add." Repeat this for the .php3 and .php4 extensions.

Create a Database

7. Enter the "MySQL Databases" section. Scroll down in your C Panel until you find an icon with this text below it. Click the icon.

8. Add the database. Enter the desired name for the database in the "Name" field and then click "Add" or "Create."

9. Add the user. Again, enter the desired user name and password and then click "Add" or "Create." Make sure you write down the password somewhere.

10. Connect the newly created user to the newly created database. Under "Databases," a section with Privileges is included. Check the "All" box and then select the user you want to add to the database via the text or drop-down field. Click "Add User To Database."

Add .Torrent Extension

11. Visit the C Panel of your website again. Type "yourdomain.com/cpanel" in the Web browser of your choice.

12. Enter the "Apache Handlers" section. Scroll through the C Panel until you find this icon and then click it.

13. Add the .torrent extension. In the "Extension" field, type ".torrent" and click "Add."

Install the Template

14. Download the Free Torrent Source (FTS) file. Open and extract the .RAR file to the desktop.

15. Connect the site with FileZilla. Open FileZilla on your computer (download and install if you do not already own it) and select "New" in the menu. Enter the required details, which include the user name and password you previously created.

16. Upload the FTS file. Click "Upload Files" and then select all files found within the extracted "Upload" folder. Select the "/public_html/" directory and then click "Okay." Wait for the upload to complete.

17. Change the permissions of the "bitbucket," "cache," "config" and "torrents" files. In FileZilla, browse for these files and right click on each one separately. Select the "File Attributes" selection from the pop-up menu and enter "777" in the "Numeric Value" field. Click "Okay."

18. Install the template. Enter "yourdomain.com/install" in Firefox and then press the Enter key on your keyboard.

19. Enter the required information. The MySQL Host is almost always "localhost" and the remaining information is known only by you, that being your user name, password and database.

20. Ignore the 777 message that appears. You have already completed this warning.

21. Check the links on the next page that loads. The links on the left-hand side should match those on the right-hand side. If they do not, copy and past the ones from the right to the left and proceed if no error messages pop up.

22. Start the import. Click "Start Import" on the next page that loads. Wait for the import to finish.

23. Check the domain. Enter your plain domain, "yourdomain.com," into the Web browser. The template should be live.

Add Torrent Files

24. Visit Torrent websites. Prevalent sites include BitTorrent, SumoTorrent and Vuze.

25. Download Torrent files. Select those files that apply to your niche. Click "Download" and save them to your Desktop.

26. Upload these Torrents. On your website, click "Upload." A new page will load with multiple fields.

27. Fill in the information. Click "Browse" and then find the Torrent you wish to upload. Click "Okay" and return to filling in the rest of the required information, such as Title and Description.

28. Finish the upload. Click "Send," and the Torrent file will upload to your website. Continue adding Torrent files until your visitors start to contribute.

Tips & Warnings

  • Take your time. This is a very complex process that could take multiple attempts. Take frequent breaks and try not to get it done too quickly, which may lead to errors.
  • Consult the documentation of any product or service mentioned if confused. This includes technical details such as MySQL or FileZilla.
  • If something did not work, do not take it too seriously. Try to refrain from getting frustrated and instead look for where the error occurred. It is common for errors to occur in the MySQL portion and from incorrect user names or passwords.
